Cross posting this to tumblr and facebook, but I had to rant about this crazy occurrence that happened to me
Today (or well, yesterday since it’s nearly 6 am) I decided to treat myself to a movie (Aquaman) before my usual game night. When I bought my ticket on Thursday there were still a lot of empty seats, and our theatre has assigned seating so I bought myself a single ticket in one of the two seaters in the theatre (seats are grouped by two, with the arm rest between the two seats lifting up). Right before I left to the theatre I checked and the theatre had become almost sold out. I accepted that I’d have to share a two seater with someone no big deal.
I get to my seat and I had taken the right side seat of a two seater leaving the left side empty between me and the couple next to it (though, from the map I knew it had been purchased). Lo and behold a group came down the row and they had purchased all the seats to the right of me and apparently purchased the single seat next to me. The woman asked if I would mind switching to the left side of the two seater so she could sit with her group. I of course had no problem with it as it wasn’t that big of a deal. What? My drink is on my left instead of my right? so what.
The woman of the couple to the left made a comment to me under her breath “You’re a better woman than I am” implying that she wouldn’t have switched seats.
Like really? are you that much of a dick? it’s really not that big of a deal to switch seats.
Why does common courtesy make me a better person? Jeez.
